I read so many books with so many awesome and really strong characters. But in these books, these girls actually thrown down and aren't afraid to get dirty. Here's a few of my favorites and one winner will receive their choice of one book from this selection. Click on the titles if you want more info on any of these books. If it's in a series, I have no problem if you want a different book in the series and if you choose Insurgent or Grave Mercy, it will be a pre-order.

For me a strong character is one who keeps getting up and moving along no matter what is thrown at them...and I especially like it when they have to learn that about themselves...that they are in fact _strong_ and capable.

ReplyDeleteThanks for this giveaway! A strong character is one who knows they have a mission and does their best to be honest to themselves and others while learning along the way. A strong character usually starts out weak and afraid but learns to hone their personal strengths and learn from their mistakes to accomplish their goals. :)

I think a strong character is someone that stands up for themselves, voices their opinions and has strong convictions. It also helps if they can kick some butt. ;)

Standing up for others, especially ones that don't have the ability to do it for themselves. Someone who is willing and goes into any situation with a good attitude.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion a strong, kick-butt character isn't just one you is physically strong and kicks butt. :P For me someone who naver loses sight of who he is, no matter what he's going through and stays loyal to his friends, this is real kick-butt.

ReplyDeleteA strong character is someone who stays true to themselves even in a bad situation. This person, above all, fights for what they think is right and they care for others. Kick-ass for me doesn't mean that a character is a good fighter like in war, but someone who is strong and knows when they need to step back and can have their weak moments, too.

I think a strong character needs to be able to take crew of themselves- but not be afraid to accept help from others.

There are two different types of strong character: one who is physically strong and able to overcome obstacles & kick butt, the other is one who is strong in mind and spirit - one who will not give up or give in, no matter what.

ReplyDeleteA strong character is one who doesn't back down. She might have inner doubts, but when a decision has to be made, she makes it. There's no wallowing, no self-pity, no whining. They just put on their big girl panties, lace up their boots, and get going.

ReplyDeleteI love the main character (especially a girl) with a very strong personality. A character who never give up till she gets what she thinks is right. That's what I called strong character.
For me, I always love a girl in a book who can stand on her own with the help of others. I can't stand when I read books and the girl character can't do anything or her whole world becomes about the boy. When a book can have a female character that kicks ass, gets the boy, and still can be able to fend on her own then she's pretty kick-ass for me.
ReplyDeleteI think a strong character is not only someone who is physically strong, but someone who has will power. They don't give up no matter what is thrown at them, but at the same time has the ability to acknowledge their faults and isn't too proud to ask for help.
ReplyDeleteA strong character is one you can easily empathize with. If you don't want to journey with a character through an entire novel because you feel no empathy, then it doesn't matter how well the author describes the setting or writes a suspenseful plot, for me it's all about the characters.

The fact that they can think for themselves makes the character strong. And if it's a female, I appreciate the fact when she doesn't need to be rescued all the time. Damsel in distress is so last year. ;)
